About Me
Hi, my name is Lisa, I have a wonderful husband, two energetic kids, and we live in the seaside town of Torquay in beautiful Devon.
I love to cook, and although I have a nice large kitchen with all the ‘mod-cons’, I learnt to cook in a small make shift kitchen with a cooker that was old and rusty with a very temperamental thermostat!
I know what can be achieved with these very basic cooking facilities so with a little knowledge and a willingness to learn how to cook, I would love to share this knowledge and passion for cooking with you.
I truly believe cooking is a science which is simply about knowing what ingredients work together and adding these things to create something wonderful to eat. But like anything in life, if no-one tells you how to do it, you'll never know!
Cooking is the end of the task, the beginning is about planning what you are going to cook, sourcing the ingredients for your recipes and thinking about what else you can cook with any leftover ingredients, knowing how to make it tasty and enjoying it.
My passion for cooking starts with the ingredients and wherever possible I avoid large supermarkets and shop at local independent supermarkets, greengrocers, butchers and bakers. I grow lots of my own vegetables and even keep chickens that lay fabulous fresh eggs everyday which can totally transform your cooking.
Cooking is nothing to be afraid of and if it all goes wrong just add some baked beans (everything tastes good with beans) put it down to experience and start again! Let me teach you what I have taught myself over 10 years of cooking in my kitchen.
